I am inspired by the flora and fauna of the natural world, particularly in coastal New England. My training in botany and marine biology influences my attention to detail, such as in my floral and beach still-lifes. My love of a good story, however, helps broaden my focus to capture character and sense of place in my landscapes. My primary medium is watercolor, but I also work in oils and pastels. I have had the good fortune to study and take workshops with a variety of excellent artists, including William Duke, Susan Spellman, Sue Charles, Alan Bull, Ann Schaefer, and Robert Henry and other faculty at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. I am a Juried Artist member of the North Shore Arts Association, an Artist member of the Newburyport Art Association (NAA), a member of the Watercolor Interest Group at the NAA, and have displayed my work in both juried and non-juried shows, as well as several galleries.
